Interviewed by Mia Beach

Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Do you have any pets?
I’m just a dude born and raised in Northern California living in a 100+ year old farmhouse that is probably haunted. I work in matting and framing by day, and I stay up late drawing by night. My wife and my kids (5 and 2) inspire my cartoons more often than not. We have a terrier mix named Charles/Charlie/Chuck and he’s my road-dawg. We also have a Tortie Manx named Bobbi and she is the sheriff on the property.
How long have you been cartooning?
On and off since 2017/2018 but started pursuing it more seriously in 2021.
What are some of your favorite things to draw?
Trees, plants, robots, cave people and pretty much anything else that doesn’t involve shoes because I absolutely loathe drawing shoes. Shoes are hard.

What animal do you think is the funniest, and why?
Long answer: I worked at a safari style zoo on the maintenance crew for a summer. It was one of the more memorable jobs I had out of high school. What made up for the hour commute and making $9 an hour was the sort of “VIP” adventuring and close encounters I was able to experience.
Once, while repairing a fence in with the ostriches, I learned that they’re very curious birds, and mostly non-threatening. They sorta just wanted to see what we were doing and constantly nipping at everything shiny. Like our tools and screws. Which you can imagine, starts to get annoying. What I also learned is that they’re afraid of anything taller than they are and to shoo them away, I was instructed to grab a shovel, raise it above my head, and chase them. So here I am chasing this giant land bird making sure not to get too close cause their talons are really the only thing to be afraid of.
Short answer: Ostriches are funny.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
At home with my lil’ family.
